Cape Cod Five Cents Savings Bank is in it for the long run with the Gleason Family YMCA and their annual road race.

The bank presented a $5,000 check to the YMCA in Wareham on Friday in support of the 12th annual Gleason Family YMCA 5K Road Race. The bank is the presenting sponsor of the race, which takes place in Onset on May 17 and benefits the YCares Annual Campaign.

YCares provides financial assistance to those who could not otherwise afford YMCA membership, and programs, including summer programs for children.

Dorothy A. Savarese, president and CEO of Cape Cod Five Cents Savings Bank, which will open a new banking center at Rosebrook Place in Wareham in June, made the presentation to Laura Prisco, executive director at Gleason Family YMCA.

“As active participants in the communities we serve, and as firm believers in the mission of the YMCA and making the Y’s services available to all, we are pleased to sponsor the Gleason Family 5K Road Race," Savarese said. "In addition to being a wonderful event, the race is an important fundraiser that makes valuable programs accessible to more residents of the area."
