Barbara Lawson, 86

Barbara A. Lawson, 86, of Wareham passed away peacefully Aug. 7 at Royal Cape Cod Nursing Home in Buzzards Bay. She was the loving wife of the late Gordon D. Lawson, Sr.

Born in Quincy, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Margaret F. (Donovan) Kilpatrick. A graduate of North Quincy High School, Mrs. Lawson was principal clerk for the Quincy Public School System for 32 years. She will be remembered as a loving wife and devoted mother and grandmother whose essence and zeal for life were fueled by her love of her family, doing for others and her Methodist foundation.

She is survived by her daughters, Susan M. (Duffy) Dyke of Wareham and Sharon (Duffy) Boggs of Marshfield; her sons, Gordon D. Lawson, Jr. and wife Joanne (DeCarli) Lawson, Jr. of Hanson and John C. Lawson and wife Mary (Horrigan) Lawson of Hanover; her step-son, Bruce G. Lawson and his wife Chong Suk Lawson of Fort Leavenworth, Kansas; her sister and brother-in-law Joan and Kenneth Donovan of Quincy; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her daughter, the late Marjorie Jane Lawson.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday Aug. 17 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Highway (Route 28), Wareham. Her funeral service will be held on Friday, Aug. 18 at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
