Barnacle Bob's to have live entertainment

There will be music in the air at a recently-opened restaurant in Wareham that has been a long time coming.

Barnacle Bob's, or BB's, located at 2424 Cranberry Highway, has been having what owner Tim Ciaffoni calls a "slow opening" over the last three weeks, and on Tuesday, the Board of Selectmen approved a license for entertainment on Sundays.

"There's a player piano in the establishment," said Ciaffoni. The restaurant is "planning to utilize that during late lunch and dinner hours."

Ciaffoni also plans to hold karaoke and open mic nights "to try to bring live entertainment in different forms." He also plans on installing a digital jukebox.

"I take it your target audience is not your age or mine," said Selectman Judy Whiteside, who recently retired from teaching.

Ciaffoni replied that the jukebox can be configured not to play certain types of music, and the live entertainment would not be abrasive to patrons.

"These uses don't seem especially radical," said Selectmen Chair Peter Teitelbaum.

Barnacle Bob's operating license and liquor license were approved last January.

The restaurant most recently operated as Grille 28 and Pomodore's before closing last year.
