Beautification of the blossoms at Dudley square
With a group of seven volunteers, help from Olson's Garden Center and Barrasso Landscape, Onset’s Dudley L. Brown Square has been re-beautified.
The Onset Bay Association’s beautification team worked with the garden center and landscapers to redesign the square during a two-day project.
“We looked over Dudley and said, ‘We need to do something,’” said Kathy Judd of the beatification team.
The redesign incorporates bigger stones to help control weeds, new flowers and replanting of previous flora.
Pink hydrangeas, spirea, holly bushes and daylilies can be seen adorning the newly-designed square.
“It brings beauty to the area,” said Judd. “It’s good for residents — tourists. It shows that we care.”
All of the funding for the project comes from community donations.
Originally dedicated on November 11, 1968, the Dudley L. Brown monument honors those from the community who served in the Korean and Vietnam Wars.
