Bluegrass to benefit Turning Point

Aug 20, 2012

Enjoy the sweet sounds of bluegrass along the shores of Tihonet Pond on Saturday, August 25, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Three local bands will perform throughout the day including Changing Strings, The Chickens, and Four Bridges.

Family fun activities will be offered, including swan and duck paddle boat rides, face painting by Art on the Spot, and balloon animals by the Onset Youth Center.

Wicked Smokin’ BBQ will offer some of BBQ ribs, pulled pork, and "wicked big" dogs. Be sure to save room for the Dessert Barn’s make-your-own-sundae station and homemade peach cobbler!

All Dessert Barn proceeds will benefit Turning Point Day Resource Center. Turning Point is a nonprofit, non-sectarian, volunteer, community-based organization which aims to empower the homeless by providing confidential, supportive, and educational services.

Located in Tihonet Village, 146 Tihonet Road, the event will go on rain or shine. Tickets are $8 in advance and $10 at the door. Children under age 7 are admitted free of charge.

Bring a lawn chair or blanket. Some activities and refreshments have additional fees. Parking is free. Call 508-322-4028 or visit www.tihonet.com to purchase tickets.
