A book boogie bonanza with Dj Ooch
When in moments of excitement, one might feel inclined to jump for joy, laugh until their stomach hurts or even break out some eccentric dance moves.
However, fans of Brett Outchcunis, also known as “Dj Ooch,” know the perfect reaction to these moments of happiness are to slightly squat down, point out both fingers and shout, “Oh yeah!”
Any passerby would most likely hear these exclamations if near the Wareham Free Library Thursday afternoon on June 29 as Dj Ooch kicked off the start of summer reading with a dance party.
From games of freeze dance to the “Cupid Shuffle” and a friendly competition of limbo, Dj Ooch made it impossible for kids to not feel the overwhelming urge to bellow a good, “Oh yeah!”
At the start of the freeze dance, Bobby Scully, 6, and his sister, Kaysleigh, 8, were the first ones “out” due to their uncontrollable laughing.
However, this did not stop them from busting out Dj Ooch’s favorite dance move, “the truck driver,” when the music returned.
Bobby and Kaysleigh are self-proclaimed fans of Dj Ooch and have been to his performances on multiple occasions.
Bobby even wanted him to perform at a relative’s recent wedding.
Quinn Castro, 4, said the freeze dance is the best part of his show.
And she especially likes “when he says funny things,” she said.
Quinn held the position of line leader during limbo — an honor she took very seriously.
Lily Deziedzic, 5, said the event was good and just loves the opportunity to dance.
She said her favorite songs are from Kidz Bop.
Kesley Gropman, 6, is also a dancing fanatic.
She said her favorite part of Dj Ooch’s performances is “when we do the free dance before the party gets started.”
When asked if she was a fan of Dj Ooch, there was clearly only one acceptable response: “Oh yeah!”
