Bourne/Mashpee/Wareham girls hockey team wins tournament

With a combined score of 11-1, the Bourne/Mashpee/Wareham girls ice hockey team won the Judy Kostas tournament in Orleans.

Last Friday, the girls won the tourney with a 7-1 victory over Nauset/Cape Cod Tech in the championship game.

Leading the way for BMW was tournament MVP Tannah O'Brien. The ninth-grader scored three goals and had a team-high eight assists in wins over St. Joseph and Nauset/Cape Cod Tech. Eighth-grader Marissa Fitzgerald provided a scoring punch with five goals in the tournament, including a hat trick in a 4-0 win over St. Joseph.

Goalie Ariel St. Germaine made 12 saves in the shutout win over St. Joseph and had 19 saves in the tournament.

This was the first year the 10-year-old tournament offered a girl's division.
