Boys and Girls Club Tennis Tournament winners

Aug 23, 2010

Two campers from the Boys and Girls Club of Wareham recently took home top-of-the-line Prince tennis racquets for their skill in the camp's inaugural Mini Tennis Tournament.

On behalf of Prince Corporation, Camp Tennis Director Joanne Byron presented racquets instead of tennis trophies to the tournament winners and blue ribbons to children who participated in the five-week tennis program.

Jacob Juneau won the Division A (ages 9 and 10) tournament, and Evan Kyle came in second.

Rally Wheaton won the tournament in Division B (ages 11 through 13), and Connor Wallace was the runner-up.

Byron wrote that the kids "stepped up to the plate.  I was amazed at their hitting ability and control," she said.

But most impressively, "they even used their backhand instead of running around it:"  The true mark of a good tennis player.
