Breaking and entering in Onset results in arrest
An Onset man was arrested after police responded to a breaking and entering call on 9 Maple Avenue in Onset at approximately 9:30 a.m. on April 12 , police said.
Twenty year old Thomas Godbout of 13 Gray Street ran from the property after being confronted by the homeowner, according to the police. Police chased the suspect through the neighborhood until Detective William deSilva and Parole Officer Nathan Mendes apprehended Godbout in the area of St. Mary’s Church, police said.
Godbout, who is well known to the Wareham Police Department due to similar previous criminal offenses, was arrested and charged with the attempt to commit a crime, breaking and entering in daylight, and malicious destruction of personal property over $250, police said.
Godbout was arraigned at Wareham Fourth District Court on Thursday, April 12, police said.
The arrest of Godbout was the result of a cooperative effort between citizens and police officers, police said.
