Cadets test leadership skills at Joint Base Cape Cod
The Wareham High Junior Reserve Officer Training Course conducted their annual spring leadership training field trip to Joint Base Cape Cod on Thursday, May 14. The cadets negotiated a leadership reaction obstacle course and received an Army aviation orientation. Wareham High School teamed with New Bedford High School to execute this training exercise.
The leadership reaction course is a series of water obstacles where cadets problem solving skills and leadership techniques are tested with the additional stress of complex scenarios, peer leadership and time constraints.
Each cadet was placed in leadership positions and was required to understand instructions for a given problem, then develop possible solutions with the assistance of the team members.
The Cadet would then issue clear instructions to negotiate the obstacles successfully. Following the successful completion of these obstacles the cadets went to the Joint Base Cape Cod Airfield where they received an orientation and safety brief of the UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter with an orientation flight over the Cape Cod Canal.
