Carl P. Ferioli, 95

Carl P. Ferioli, 95, of E. Wareham, died peacefully Sunday, February 20, 2022, at Royal Cape Cod Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Buzzards Bay. He was the husband of the late Elena C. (Pizzi) Ferioli.

Carl was the son of the late Mario C. & Adele C. (Malgeri) Ferioli. He was born and raised in Somerville, MA, and graduated from Somerville High School, Class of 1944.

A WWII Veteran, he enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1944; and served as a sergeant with the 155 Army Airways Communications System Squadron. 

Mr. Ferioli was a Professional Electrical Engineer for the U.S. Dept. of Defense.  He retired in 1986 from the Air Force Geophysics Lab (formerly the Air Force Cambridge Research Labs) at Hanscom Air Force Base after 35 years of civil service. He continued his atmospheric research projects through government contracts with MIT and Northeastern University.

A longtime resident of Somerville, where he raised his family until he and Ellie retired to their summer home in Wareham. He enjoyed building model airplanes, gardening and traveling with his wife. Carl and Ellie were married nearly 70 years and were devoted to their family. They especially enjoyed their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. “Papa” will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his six children, Diane E. Clark of Sturbridge, Carl P. Ferioli, Jr. of Barrington, NH, Gail M. Somers of Plymouth, Paul P. Ferioli of N. Reading, Jill M. Ferioli-Lockhart of Plymouth, and Carol J. Ferioli of Taunton; his brother, Robert Ferioli of Choctaw, OK; and 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit at Chapman Funerals & Cremations, 2599 Cranberry Hwy. (Rt. 28), Wareham on Monday, February 28, 2022 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Margaret’s Church, 141 Main St., Buzzards Bay at 11:00 a.m.  Interment will be in Mass. National Cemetery, Bourne.
