Carole F. Wardon, 65, nutritionist, library volunteer
Carole Fettes Wardon, 65, died Sunday, March 13, 2011 at her home in Wareham after a long illness.
Born in Trenton, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Edward Fettes & Frances McKean Schmitt.
Mrs. Wardon received her undergraduate degree from Westminster College and her graduate degree in nutrition science from the University of Wisconsin. She was employed as a nutritionist for the federal government’s Women, Infant and Children (WIC) nutrition food program. An active member of the Wareham community, she taught reading at the Wareham Free Library and was a member of Church of the Good Shepherd in Wareham.
She is survived by her three daughters, Elizabeth Hayes of W. Wareham, Theresa Wardon of Denver, CO and Cara Wardon of N. Attleboro; her sister, Evelyn Tiemann of Oak Park, IL; her brothers, William Fettes of Kansas City, KS, David Fettes of Montgomery, AL, Thomas Schmitt of Syracuse, NY, James Schmitt of Chicago, IL and George Peter Schmitt, Paul Schmitt and Andrew Schmitt all of Vestal, NY; two step-sisters, April Kutger of San Francisco, CA and Joanne Opie of Harvard, IL; two grandsons, Jacoby and Jared Hayes; sixteen nieces and nephews, and seven great nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Sat., April 2, 2011 at the Church of the Good Shepherd, High St., Wareham at 11:00 AM.
