Carolers say 'thanks,' organize winter sing-alongs
To the Editor:
The Onset Carolers wish to thank Jeff and Carolyn Osswald and daughter Jessica for generously opening the Firehouse Cafe on December 23 to host the Onset Carolers.
We were able to convene and practice there before setting out to carol the Onset area stores, and were feted with coffee, hot chocolate, cider, and goodies. What a terrific contribution to the community!
Thanks also to editor Jaime Rebhan for helping the Onset Carolers plan a successful tour, to the Spinney Library for allowing us to hold an open practice in the conference room, and to the Church of the Good Shepherd, especially Choir Director Pat Reynolds, for providing the inspiration and opportunity to start this caroling community. The Onset Carolers joined the Good Shepherd carolers, caroling in area nursing homes and residential communities.
The Onset Carolers have been invited to carol at next year’s Christmas in Onset (the first Saturday in December), and invite all to join next year. There will be open carol practices in late November to prepare.
In addition, the Onset Carolers will have a few open community sings in the coming winter months "To Drive the Cold Winter Away." A sing was held on Friday, January 18. The next one will be Friday, February 8, from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Firehouse Cafe Please join us in singing and dancing the winter away. Children accompanied by adults are most welcome, and there is no cost to participate.
Happy New Year!
