Chalk-Full-O-Fun to bring street painting to Onset
On Saturday, Aug. 16, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., artists and the community are invited to Onset’s inaugural “Chalk-Full-O-Fun” Street Painting Festival. Chalk “paintings” will be created on the walkways and other surfaces around the park next to the bandshell in Onset Village.
Sign-in begins at 9 a.m. Participants are encouraged to pre-register by email via onsetstreetpaintfest@yahoo.com to reserve a box of soft pastel chalk. The registration fee is $5. A cup of chalk, for a $2 donation, will be available at the registration table for anyone wishing to fill a smaller square on the community chalk walk with their own designs.
Other activities will include an arts and crafts fair, a one-man Delta and Chicago blues music show by Mark T. Small, face painting courtesy of Michael's Craft Store, and hair chalking courtesy of Onset’s Finest Hair Salon.
Later in the evening Onset's noted "Illumination Night" will take place along the shores of Onset Bay.
Supporters of the event include the Wareham Cultural Council, the United Way of Greater New Bedford, and First Citizens’ Federal Credit Union.
