Charter Review information sessions planned

Mar 9, 2010

The Charter Review Committee has arranged for multiple public information sessions to discuss the committee's proposal to replace Town Meeting with an elected, town council and to replace a part-time board of selectman and town administrator with an elected, full-time mayor.

The proposal will be voted on at Town Meeting and, if passed, will be put before voters on a town-wide ballot for approval.

This Saturday, March 13, at 1 p.m. in the Town Hall Auditorium, the committee will present a short slideshow comparing the existing town government with the proposed one. You are invited to watch, listen, ask questions, suggest refinements, and express concerns and hopes.

A Wareham cable TV program is in the works, scheduled to air later in March, in which those who cannot attend a meeting can call in with questions, suggestions, and concerns.

In addition, two other public meetings are being planned, at least one of which will be held on a Wednesday or Thursday evening at 7 p.m. to accommodate those citizens who have not been able to attend the Saturday events.

Please keep watching this newspaper and WCTV cable stations, Channel 9 or Channel 29, for updates on the events' specific dates and times.
