A Christmas morning fire displaced a West Wareham family and caused nearly $50,000 in damage to the home they were living in.
The 4 Vernal Pool Lane fire was reported at about 8:30 Saturday morning. The residents of the home were not injured in the blaze, and were staying with nearby relatives following the fire, said Wareham Fire Department Captain Matthew Rowley.
The fire started in a glass-enclosed room, Rowley said. The home sustained fire damage to 25-percent of its structure. Firefighters were on the scene for more than three hours.
Wareham Fire Department is currently investigating the cause of the fire. Onset Fire Department and Wareham EMS also responded to the scene.
