Guy Campinha, the head of the town’s sewer department, clarified the moratorium on new sewer connection’s at the commissioner’s Thursday night meeting.

Homes and businesses with an existing sewer connection — even one that hasn’t been used in years — are excluded from the moratorium as those flows have already been accounted for.

Campinha said that also goes for buildings that had connections and were demolished before being rebuilt.
