Community firefighters wanted
The Wareham Fire Department is accepting applications for call firefighters. The department has an immediate need of manpower mainly in the White Island and West Wareham areas.
The position requires people to perform fire suppression, rescue, fire prevention and related duties on an as-needed basis. Being entry-level positions, the department is not seeking previous experience or training from applicants. However, those who can respond to emergencies during weekdays are highly desirable.
All candidates are required to be living in Wareham and have a valid Massachusetts driver's license.
Applicants must be in good physical condition and be able to successfully pass a comprehensive medical examination, including a drug screening test as well as a physical ability test. Candidates will be expected to successfully pass a Criminal Offender Record Information background check.
Anyone hired is prohibited from smoking as a condition of employment. New hires must complete a Firefighter I/II Certification training program within tow years, along with a one-year probationary period.
