Community TV offers free PSAs to nonprofits

Oct 18, 2010

Wareham Community Television (WCTV) will host its first Free Public Service Announcement (PSA) Production Day on November 10.

WCTV will open its studios to all nonprofit organizations in Wareham and help them to produce their own one-to-three minute PSA. WCTV will provide production assistance; organizations must provide a spokesperson to speak to the organization's goals, mission, needs, or events.

"This is a first-of-its-kind opportunity in Wareham to get an organization's message out to the public or to just increase the community's awareness of its mission in a free PSA," said WCTV Executive Director Jay Heard. "Each message may be as simple as reading from a script, or we can add video and graphic elements provided by your organization."

Logos, addresses, phone, and websites may be used as graphic elements in the videos.

WCTV will run each PSA for free on Comcast channel 9 and Verizon channel 30 for six months. WCTV's programs are seen by thousands of Wareham residents, Heard said.

Productions will take place between 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. on November 10. Half-hour reservations are being accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. RSVP by Monday, November 8. All graphics and organizational information must be received at WCTV by 5 p.m. on Monday, November 8.

Additionally, WCTV is currently seeking residents who'd like to get involved in producing television content, taking free production classes, and volunteering on shows. Membership applications are available on the WCTV website, www.warehamtv.org, and at WCTV's offices at 505 Main Street.
