Council on Aging receives computer donation
Wareham's Council on Aging received a gift of technology from Mayflower Bank last week, in the form of five Dell computers.
"I couldn't believe it," said Marcia Griswold, Director of Senior & Social Services. "I'm really pleased. It's wonderful for us."
The computers will be used for the council's computer classes, which are offered to seniors free-of-charge on Mondays from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Seniors can also use the workstations to check e-mail and job hunt, Griswold said.
"Every three years we get new computers at the bank, and we still have very functional computers," said Janette Jaynes, Mayflower Bank Marketing & Public Relations Manager.
Bank employees decided to donate the computers to the Council on Aging after Sandra Fleet, who sits on the Council on Aging and Mayflower Bank boards of directors, pointed out that the council could use the machines, Jaynes said.
"When I was down there, I couldn't believe it, looking at some of the older computers," Jaynes said.
The Council on Aging is currently seeking donations of monitors for three of the computers, as well as the donation of a printer. To help out, call the Council on Aging at 508-291-3130.
