Craig Alan Baptiste, 61

May 26, 2024

Craig Alan Baptiste, 61, beloved husband of Cynthia Brooks Baptiste, entered into rest on May 23, 2024. Craig left us way too soon due to an unexpected battle with ALS.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM at The Sanctuary at 4584 Cox Road, Evans, GA, 30809 on Tuesday, May 28, 2024 with Pastor Bryan Cockrell officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday morning at Platt’s Funeral Home, 337 North Belair Road from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM.

Craig relocated to Augusta from Massachusetts in 1984 to work at the Savannah River Plant (Aiken, SC) for DuPont after graduating from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Craig worked in various engineering positions for nearly 36 years until his retirement from SRS in 2020.
Craig was a member of the Sanctuary Church of Evans and was very active with the Men’s Ministry. Craig enjoyed being a part of two men’s small groups and the Tres Dias community as well.

Craig was an avid deer hunter and enjoyed taking his daughter Taylor hunting with him and being there when she harvested her first doe and first buck. The family enjoyed the venison.

Craig enjoyed visiting family and friends each summer in Onset, MA especially the Pier View Restaurant owned and operated by Craig’s dad Stephen Sr.

Craig was grateful for his faith in Jesus and was comforted knowing his name was in the book of believers. Life certainly was no walk in the park as the disease progressed, but Craig leaned on his faith and his devoted wife to face each day.

Craig leaves behind his wife Cynthia; daughter Taylor; his parents Stephen Baptiste, Sr (Munja) and Geraldine Baptiste; brothers, Stephen, Jr., Mark and Eric; sister Cathrine (Allan); nephews Marcus, Landyn, Stephen, Luke, Seth, Ian, Zach, Joe and Justin; nieces Azia, Stevie, Giovanna, Amber, Laurel, Hannah, Christin, Abby and many other family members from the Silva, Baptiste and Brooks families.

There is only one way to the Father and that is total surrender to and acknowledgement of Jesus Christ. Craig is receiving his reward in heaven because of his profession of faith. To God be the glory.

Local graveside services will be held on Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at Center Cemetery, Tihonet Rd., Wareham at 12:30 p.m.

Special thanks are extended to my dedicated wife for her care and support, the workers at the ALS Clinic in Augusta, Integrity Medical Supplies of Augusta, and Team Gleason for the grants for special equipment. Also to Healing ALS for offering hope and information.

Donations can be made to the Men’s Ministry or Prodigal Ministries at the Sanctuary Church of Evans, GA.
