Cyclists ride through Wareham on Sunday to support Buzzards Bay Coalition
The Buzzards Bay Coalition’s Bike Ride cycled through Wareham between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Sunday.
About 150 cyclists from communities across Southeastern Massachusetts and beyond participated Sunday in The Buzzards Bay Coalition’s ninth annual Buzzards Bay Watershed Ride, a cycling fundraiser to benefit the Coalition’s work throughout the 18-town Buzzards Bay watershed.
The 75-mile Watershed Ride began at Horseneck Beach in Westport, with a shorter 35-mile route beginning at Eastover Farm in Rochester. Both routes end at Quissett Harbor in Falmouth, where riders celebrated at a finish line party complete with food, drinks, awards and live music by local singer-songwriter Rebecca Correia.
The exact times for the ride were as follows:
75-mile start line:
Horseneck Beach (Route 88, Westport)
Rider check-in begins at 7:45 a.m.
Riders take off at 9:00 a.m.
Water stop: West Beach (West Rodney French Blvd., New Bedford)
Riders begin arriving at 10:00 a.m.
Lunch stop/35-mile start line: Eastover Farm (131 Hiller Rd., Rochester)
Riders begin arriving at 11:00 a.m.
Rider check-in begins at 11:15 a.m.
35-mile riders take off at 12:00 p.m.
Water stop: Mainland side of the Bourne Bridge (Bridge Approach Rd., Bourne
Riders begin arriving at 12:00 p.m.
Finish line: Quissett Harbor House (71 Quissett Harbor Rd., Falmouth)
Riders begin arriving at 1:00 p.m.
Finish line party ends by 6:00 p.m.
