WAREHAM – Daniel Joseph McAssey, 65, of Wareham, died Sunday, May 7, 2023 at Boston Medical Center. He was the husband of the late Donna Barrasso.

Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Joseph and Dorothy (Maher) McAssey. A longtime resident of Wareham, Dan graduated from Wareham High School. He worked for many years as an electrician before becoming self-employed as a landscaper and construction worker, land clearing and logging. He also worked for local cranberry growers.

Dan enjoyed travelling to national parks and taking hikes with his daughter MaryKate and his grandson, Collin. He loved nature and raising animals, and enjoyed gardening and building things.

Survivors include his daughters, Kim Barrasso of Plymouth, Keri Barrasso of Onset and MaryKate McAssey of Wareham; his brother, Sean McAssey and his wife Dawn of Rochester; his sister, Judith McAssey of Wareham; his grandson, Collin Sears of Plymouth; and several other nieces and nephews.
