DECA attends international conference
Students with Wareham DECA earned the opportunity to attend the International Career Development Conference which took place Friday, April 27 to Tuesday, April 30 in Anaheim, California.
Wareham DECA is an organization and extra-curricular club at Wareham High School that prepares students to be leaders in management, marketing, finance and hospitality. DECA applies skills learned in the classroom to real-life business situations.
The Conference “is everyone’s end game at DECA,” said advisor Lisa Cunha. The Conference gives students the opportunity to network with 22,000 students from around the world, giving them a “lifetime experience” and an opportunity for leadership growth, she said.
Wareham DECA had seven students who attended the Conference, and three of those students competed at the Conference. Charlotte Roy was a finalist at the MA State Career development conference and competed in Marketing Communications Series, Kailee Rose and Priscilla Ross competed together in School-Based Enterprise Retail Operations. The other four students, Stoney Ferry, Hannah Milne, Woody Salem and Taj Lewin-Pina, attended a leadership academy to broaden their skills and knowledge in all aspects of the business world.
Students that attended thank everyone that helped them get to the Conference. The students also want to thank Cunha for always going above and beyond for every one of her students.
