Decas Elementary third-graders learn about Lincoln
Feb 12, 2010
John W. Decas Elementary third-graders celebrated former president Abraham Lincoln's birthday with Wareham lawyer Paul Scannell on Friday, Feb. 12.
Scannell, a Lincoln history buff, talked about Honest Abe's impact on the United States. Students took turns writing parts of the Emancipation Proclamation on the chalkboard and figured out how old Lincoln would be today... 201 years!
The class also got to view Scannell's expansive coin collection. Students looked at coins and bills through magnifying glasses and discussed how money has changed throughout the years.
