Decking the hall with dancing
Wareham’s Dance Innovations VIP performed their Christmas recital at the First Congregational Church on Saturday, and all proceeds went to a great cause.
An audience filled the Rowland Thacher Fellowship Hall, children danced in festive Christmas attire, and an excited applause roused Santa from his sleigh and into the building with a sack full of gifts.
“Any money we make today does not go to the studio. It goes to our relay team,” said Patty Regan, owner of Dance Innovations VIP and host of the Christmas recital.
The “Bell’s Angels” American Cancer Society Relay for Life Team was organized in memory of Jayne Bell, the previous owner of Dance Innovations who passed of breast cancer. The show was free entry with an opportunity to make a donation at the door, a 50/50 raffle, and sales of merchandise by local artists -- all benefiting the Relay for Life fund-raising effort
Bell had started the relay team, and her dear friends and present owners of Dance Innovations VIP; Patty Regan and her daughters Michelle Regan and Mellissa Regan, have carried on this fundraiser for seven years. Michelle Regan is the captain of the relay team.
Last year “Bell’s Angels” raised $10,000 for the American Cancer Society.
“If everyone can take a little bit of time and just take it dollar by dollar, then just maybe we can find a cure,” said Patty Regan.
Mark your calendars! Dance Innovations VIP continues to fundraise at its yearly benefit at the Redmen Hall in Wareham, which takes place Saturday, March 22. Half of the funds raised will go toward the “Bell’s Angels” relay team, and the other half benefits a growing college education scholarship program for Bell’s children.
