Delona Lea Stewart, 80

PLYMOUTH – Delona Lea Stewart, 80, of Plymouth, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 5, 2024 at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Plymouth.

Her life started in Pensacola, FL, she was the daughter of the late Gwendolyn Louise (Gibbons) and Ormand Raymond Christian, Sr. Her father was in the Navy. One of the places she talked about most was being a teenager in Japan. Mrs. Stewart became a military wife of the late Robert L. Stewart. They lived in Germany as well as various states across the U.S., eventually retiring in Vermont where she lived till 2015 when she moved to Massachusetts.

She spent most of her life as a homemaker while in the service. After retiring in Vermont, she worked as an activities director for nursing homes in Woodstock. Her main hobbies were researching and teaching about Penny rugs. In her later life she enjoyed playing bingo helping anyone who needed an ear to talk to.

Delona Lea’s survivors include her children, Deborah Walker and her husband James of E. Wareham, Robert B. Stewart of Claremont, NH, and James L. Stewart of S. Reading, VT; her sister, Jane Snyder of CA; her grandchildren, Jayme Walker, Justin Walker, Ty Stewart, Joy Stewart, Nik Stewart and Karson Stewart; and her aunts, Nancy Gibbons and Elsie Worthen.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit on Thursday, June 13 th at Chapman Funerals & Cremations – Wareham, 2599 Cranberry Hwy. (Rt. 28), Wareham from 5 to 7 PM. Burial at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne will be at a later date for the family.
