Dick Melloni Youth Foundation to hold 23rd annual toy drive

Nov 3, 2015

For the 23rd year in a row, the Dick Melloni Youth Foundation will be holding a toy drive – but, this year, it's adding some new partners.

The foundation has partnered with Turning Point and the Wareham Area Committee for the Homeless's Special Programs for Christmas to continue its annual Toy Drive.

The foundation will continue its fundraising and toy and clothing donation events, including the Toy Drive Dinner/Dance, Toy Donation Boxes placed around town, and the Wareham Police Departments "Stuff A Cruiser" program at Wareham Crossing. However, this year, Turning Point and the Wareham Area Committee for the Homeless will be responsible for the distribution of the toys and clothing for Christmas.

If you are a family in need of help, call or text the Wareham Area Committee for the Homeless special program hotline at 508-317-8958, and leave a message with your name, number of children, ages and telephone number.

If you would like to help by sponsoring a family or child, call 508-317-8958 and leave a message with your name and number.

The foundation and Wareham Area Committee for the Homeless are accepting donations of toys, new pajamas, snow boots, hooded sweatshirts, warm socks, gloves, scarves and hats in all sizes, from infant to adult.

Items may be dropped off Monday through Friday at the Church of the Nazarene, between hours of 9 a.m and 12 p.m. They may also be deposited in any Dick Melloni Youth Foundation Christmas Toy Drive drop box. All donations are tax deductible.

Tickets to the annual Toy Drive Dinner/Dance at Salerno's Function Hall on Saturday, Dec. 5, may be purchased by calling 774-222-3562. Only 125 tickets are available.
