Domingo Pires, 87
Domingo Pires, 87, of New Bedford, died Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford. He was the husband of Renee L. (Texeira) Pires.
Born in Wareham, he was the son of the late Eugene and Guilermina (Monteiro) Pires. Mr. Pires was a heavy equipment operator for International Union of Operating Engineers Local # 4.
Mr. Pires was a U.S. Army veteran and served during the Korean conflict. He served from 1953 to 1956 and was a corporal at the time of his discharge.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and enjoyed watching Western movies.
He is survived by his wife, Renee Pires of New Bedford; his sons, Kevin W. Pires, Sr. and his wife Susan of Port Charlotte, FL and Douglas Alves of Wareham; his siblings, Gilbert Pires of Canton, GA, Molly Ramos of Dartmouth, Elaine Pires of Boston and Barbara Gracia of Wareham; and his grandchildren, Kevin Pires, Jr., Chalon Pires, Taryn Powdrell, Lakeycha Alves, Betty Alves, Douglas Alves Jr. and Diana Alves. He was predeceased by his siblings, the late John Pires, Sydney Pires, Robert Pires, and Joyce Pires.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit at Chapman Funerals & Cremations, 2599 Cranberry Hwy. (Rt. 28), Wareham on Fri., Mar. 11, 2022, from 9 to 10 AM. A memorial service will take place at 10 AM with interment to follow in Mass. National Cemetery, Bourne.
