Donald A. L'Homme, Sr., 63

Donald A. L’Homme, Sr., 63, passed away at home, on Sunday, December 19, after a long illness. He was the husband of Evelyn (Marani) L’Homme of Acushnet.

 

He was born in New Bedford, MA the son of the late Albert and Lydia (LeBeau) L’ Homme.  He was a 30-year member of the Laborers’ International of North America, Local 876 of Taunton.

 

Donald most recently worked for the Bay State Construction Company of Middleborough. He also worked for the Calista Brothers, Inc., Letourneau Tree, Co., and Barnes Tree Service.

 

He is survived by one son, Donald A. L'Homme Jr. and his wife, Laurie (Meehan) of Wareham. He is the grandfather of Brendan, Donald III (DJ), Avanna, Giuliana, Stefania, Santino (Sonny) and great grandfather of Leonardo (Leo) L'Homme. He is the godfather of Patricia Henner. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

 

In his youth, Donald’s passion was auto racing. His #14 Stock Car won several events at the Lakeville Golden Spur Speedway Dirt Track and Donald shared those moments with his great friends Dave & Sue Henner, Richard Hokanson, Donald Hathaway, Joe Blais, Mike Memorris, Alfred Carreau and Gary Lemos. In later years, he enjoyed hanging out in his workshop with longtime friends Al Plante, Richard Hokanson, the late Ernie Blais and Carol, Joe Blais and Joan, Jimmy Ouellette, Danny Coutinho, Joe Oliveira, Danny and Cindy Blais, Otie Tripp, and all of his other lifelong friends, discussing cars, tree work, and life in general.

 

Donald’s Funeral Mass will be on Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at 10 a.m. in Saint Patrick’s Church, 82 High Street, Wareham. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Memorial gifts may be made to Southcoast Hospital Group, Home Care, Hospice & Palliative Care and Infusion Services, 200 Mill Road Suite 120, Fairhaven, MA 02719. Burial will be private.
