Sophia Gay and Olivia Powers have been announced as the 2024 recipients of the Dr. Thomas Gleason Scholarships.

Gay recently graduated from Sturgis Charter Public School, West Campus, and will be attending Sacred Heart University, Fairfield, CT in the fall with a major in nursing. She will receive a $1,000 scholarship.

Powers will continue her studies at Salve Regina University, Newport, RI. She is working toward a Doctorate in Pharmacy degree. She will receive a $500 scholarship.

Dr. Gleason, a Wareham physician who served the community for over 38 years, passed away in February, 2020 after a brief illness. The memorial scholarships in his name were established to assist Wareham residents who plan to pursue or are enrolled in careers in the field of medicine.
