Elaine Jean Waseleski, 77, of Marion, died Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at her home surrounded by her loved ones. She was the wife of John Waseleski, whom she was married to for 58 years.

Born on January 2, 1946 in Attleboro, she was the daughter of the late Samual and Eleanor M. (Agnew) Robison. Elaine was raised in Mansfield, Massachusetts and graduated from Mansfield High School. She loved Sanibel Island, where she and her husband spent many winters on their beautiful beaches. She and her husband John moved to Marion in 1997. She enjoyed her time working as a retail clerk at the Old Company Store in Wareham where she made many dear friends.

Elaine, or otherwise known as “Mammy” to her family, was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. Elaine was the strongest, most resilient woman. She had a fierce personality and was someone you could always count on to give you the honest truth. You would always know where Elaine was in the room by listening for laughter; she had the best sense of humor and could always make others laugh. She absolutely loved watching game shows, her favorites being Family Feud, Deal or No Deal and America Says. She enjoyed going to the casino with her “sissy” Carol, her favorite being the slot machines. She loved her weekly phone calls with her sister, and her close friend Sandi. She taught the most important life lessons to her children and grandchildren – to let the small things go “no big deal”, to treat others with kindness, to always stick up for yourself when someone does wrong by you, and many many more. She had an immense amount of love for her family – she was the most incredible matriarch who instilled the importance of staying close with family. She loved being a Mom, and she adored being a Mammy. She loved phone calls and visits with her children and grandchildren. She often babysat all 8 grandchildren creating special memories that they all cherish. She especially enjoyed summer beach trips to Silvershell Beach and grandchildren's sleepovers. She was everyone’s constant; their safe place, their best friend, their biggest protector. She was a warm hug on your worst day, your confidant, the best advice giver, and an all around unequivocal woman, wife, Mom, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend.

Christmas Eve was Elaine’s favorite day of the year – which has now become her husband’s, children's and grandchildren’s favorite day of the year. She created the most magical, warm day for everyone. There were never any frills, no fancy sit down dinner. We always ate Stouffer’s mac n’ cheese, ham, appetizers, and treats until our bellies were full. Her house was filled with so much love that day. Each Christmas Eve she created special memories that her family will cherish forever. This year, we have decided that it is no longer Christmas Eve, but will now be called Mammy’s Eve in honor of Elaine.

She is survived by her husband John of Marion; her children Lynn Bliss and her husband Donald of Mattapoisett, Kristine Gallagher and her husband Gary of Wareham, and Tim Waseleski and his wife Phet of Bellingham; her 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild, Kathryn Cook, her husband Jonathan and their child Tyler Cook, Adam Bliss-Cohen and his husband Donald, Morgan Bliss and her fiance Thomas, Sara Gallagher, Bryan Gallagher, Corine Waseleski, Lindsey Waseleski, and Kylie Waseleski; and her sister Carol Robinson of Falmouth. She was predeceased by her brother, the late Scott Robison, and two of her dearest friends the late Elizabeth (Betty) Hain, and Anne Street.

Her family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the Southcoast VNA Hospice Team for all of their support, friendship, guidance, and care.
