Electric car charging station install set for July 14
Jul 12, 2017
Three, grant funded all-electric cars leased for municipal use will soon be zooming around town once a charging station is installed on Friday.
Town Administrator Derek Sullivan said a $22,500 Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection grant allows the town to lease three Chevy Bolts for the next three years.
“This is fantastic,” said Sullivan.
The cars will be leased at $5,000 each during that time. The grant also covers the cost of the charging station, which costs $7,500.
Originally, the station was scheduled to be installed on Monday. However, a school shooting threat prompted a massive police response, forcing Town Hall to close.
