The Wareham Elks Lodge hosted four other lodges and over 40 people at the Gleason Family YMCA in the district wide hoop shoot competition.

The hoop shoot is a free throw shooting competition for kids ages 8 to 13. The district competition was held at the YMCA Saturday, Jan. 19.

Kids competing in the competition are placed in one of six groups based on age and gender and the winners of each age group move on to the next competition.

The competition has four levels to it, local, district, state and national. Jesse Lopes of Wareham won the boys 8 to 9 group and is moving on to the state wide competition being held in Maynard.
