Ella's chef invited to cook at James Beard House in Manhattan
Chef Marc Swierkowski, owner of Ella’s Woodburning Oven Restaurant in East Wareham, has been invited to present courses at the renowned James Beard House in Manhattan.
Joining Swierkowski will be his friend and colleague Todd Villani, a New Jersey-based chef.
Named after famed Chef James Beard, who is often synonymous with excellence in cuisine, the house follows a rigorous process to determine who is invited.
The Food and Friendship Dinner will be held on Sept. 26 at 7 p.m. The menu will feature local, seasonal produce and fare, such as oysters, zucchini pancakes, grilled octopus and slow-braised beef short rib.
“This will be a great reunion for us. Todd and I have developed our culinary skills in different way but we think this evening will allow us to bring all that we know about old-world cooking together in familiar yet creative way with what’s in season from our local farms and waters,” said Swierkowski.
The dinner costs $135 for James Beard Foundation members and $175 for non-members. Make reservations online at www.jamesbeard.org or call 212-627-2308. Friends and fans of the Ella’s may purchase a limited number of discounted tickets by calling 508-759-3600.
