Eugenia “Jean” DaGraca (Grace) Mattos, 97

Eugenia “Jean” DaGraca (Grace) Mattos, 97 years old, died after a brief illness on March 30. She was the beloved wife of Dennis Mattos of Wareham. She was the daughter of Antonio DaGraca and Guilhermina (Roderiques) DaGraca. She was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church in Wareham and an active member of the Rosary Club at the church for many years.

She grew up on Salter's Point in South Dartmouth. She enjoyed spending time with her parents and playing with her siblings on Salter's Point and Round Hill Beach. Jean worked for many years at Aerovox and Sippican as an Electronics Supervisor. She also enjoyed her position of kitchen manager for many years at the Bradford Russell Home for Retired Women in Fairhaven until its closing. At home, she enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking and crossword puzzles.

She passed away peacefully surrounded by her immediate family.

She leaves behind her beloved daughter Heidi E. Mattos of Wareham; her beloved granddaughter Kendall E.A. Mattos and her fiánce Joseph Silverstein of Silver Spring, Maryland and her beloved grandson Adam Peter Mattos and his wife Shondra of Texas. She also leaves behind her sisters Lillian Ramos and Elizabeth Ramos of New Bedford, and Alice Spencer of Maryland. Predeceased siblings are her beloved sister Mary Hillman and dearly missed brothers Sylvester Grace and Augustine Grace.

Funeral Liturgy outside of Mass was held on Thur., Apr. 2 at St. Patrick’s Church, Wareham. Visiting hours were held on Wed. at Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, Wareham. Interment was in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Wareham.
