Eveline Lorraine Sanford
Eveline Lorraine Sanford of Wareham, MA passed away at Doolittle Home in Foxboro, MA with family by her side on December 19, 2022. She was the wife of the late George B. Sanford Jr. Lorraine was born in Taunton, MA on March 22, 1929, to William R. Spaulding and Eveline (MacRae) Spaulding. She graduated from Taunton High School in 1947.
She attended Childrens Hospital School for Nursing and earned her nursing degree in 1949. Following her graduation from Childrens Hospital she worked at Morton Hospital in Taunton, MA. and for many years she was happy to be at home raising her three sons. When her sons were older, she worked at Sanford Electrical Co. where she managed the office. Upon moving to Wareham, MA in 1978, Lorraine joined the Wareham Visiting Nurses Agency where she worked for many years before retiring in 1999.
Lorraine loved when family and friends would visit her at her home in Wareham, MA. She enjoyed hosting many gatherings and especially loved planning birthday parties for her children and grandchildren. In retirement she enjoyed traveling to many interesting locations around the world with her husband George, and in her later years was content spending quiet time with her crossword puzzles and word search books.
She is survived by her three sons, Richard and his wife, Marjorie (Smith), Stephen and his wife, Jill (Johnson), and William and his wife Denise (Blais) and four grandchildren, Kara, Sean, Eric and Renee. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Cynthia and her husband Fred Tripp, and Trudy Sanford as well as many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her brother John Spaulding, and her grandson Daniel Sanford.
Funeral from the O’Keefe Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington St., Taunton, MA 02780 on Friday, December 30th at 9am. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary’s Church in Taunton at 10am. Relatives and friends are also invited to visiting hours on Thursday from 5-7pm. Burial will follow at St. Francis Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lorraine’s name to Doolittle Home, 16 Bird Street, Foxboro, MA 02035.
