Experience Western African history at the library

Hear the sounds of West Africa at the Wareham Free Library Friday Oct. 4 at 6:30 p.m.

Musician Sean Gaskell will come to the library to share songs of Western Africa that date back 800 years.

He will play these songs on the kora, a 21 stringed West African harp which he learned from a number of different teachers in Gambia and Senegal. The kora is traditionally played by oral historians known as Griots.

Gaskell has shared the sounds of West Africa throughout the United States and Canada and now he’s coming to Wareham as a part of his current tour throughout the Unites States.
