A fashionable fitness fundraiser
When they’re not barreling through a fast-paced workout, the members of Fierce Fitness in East Wareham are giving back to the community, as evidenced by the food drive and clothing re-sale they hosted last Friday.
Andrea Tarrant, owner of Fierce Fitness, said the gym had been collecting canned foods and non-perishables all month to be donated to Damien’s Food Pantry, located right next door at 3065 Cranberry Highway. Tarrant and instructor Linda Belocas set up a clothing re-sale fundraiser on Friday night, which donated a minimum of 20 percent of the proceeds to Damien’s as well.
“We want to do something once a month to give back to the community,” Belocas said.
Fierce Fitness, a co-ed boutique-style fitness center established in August 2013, offers a range of half-hour high intensity classes. They gym moved to its Cranberry Highway location in July and has been growing ever since.
“It’s all about doing something you didn’t think you were able to do,” Tarrant said, explaining the philosophy behind her gym.
That philosophy also extends to their community outreach. There were eight large shopping bags full of food toward the end of Friday night and Fierce Fitness is showing no signs of slowing down.
For December, they are planning a coat drive as well as participating in an adopt-a-family program.
