Fourth Annual Wareham Fiddlers Contest

Fiddlers entertain at Roland Thatcher Hall

Jul 4, 2012

The Wareham Historical Society hosted its fourth annual Fourth of July Fiddlers Contest at Roland Thatcher Hall, and the large gathering of spectators was treated to a collection of reels, marche,s and waltzes from the contestants.

While winners were announced in three different age categories (12 and under, under 18, and open), the mood of the event was more one of enjoying the music and the community of musicians than of intense competition.

Technical difficulties limited the number of videos to be shown, but the three videos showing Tiffany Rozenas (winner of the open competition), Jessie Gardner (winner of the under 18 contest), and Jonathon Leaf (3rd place in open) provide a sampling of the range of music played.

The fiddle contest is a part of the Wareham Historical Society's Fourth of July fundraising effort each year.  The event is free of charge, but attendees were able to purchase baked goods and drinks during the contest.

Judges for the event were Carlston Wood, John Parriott, and Larry McDonald.
