Wareham Police Detectives arrested a man for the intent to distribute drugs after a large fight at a gas station reportedly prompted a police response on Wednesday, Oct. 28.

Adam Grant, 35, of Wareham, was charged with possession with intent to distribute a class “A” drug after detectives allegedly found heroin on his person.

According to reports, the detectives who arrested Grant were first on the scene to Gateway Gas at 2537 Cranberry Highway after a large fight was called in to police around 3:15 p.m.

Detectives said they observed a pickup truck leaving the lot of the gas station upon their arrival.

Bystanders reportedly told detectives that the individuals inside the truck, including Grant, had been involved in the fight.

Detectives followed the truck onto Gibbs Avenue where a search found Grant to be in possession of the suspected heroin.

Grant was transported to Wareham Police Headquarters for processing after his arrest and is expected to appear in Wareham District Court on Thursday, Nov. 29.
