First responders find missing nursing home patient
Wareham Police responded to Tremont Nursing Home for an alarm activation and a missing patient on Saturday, March 21 at around 1:25 a.m.
Wareham police officers began searching the area for the missing patient with help from the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Department, Massachusetts State Police, the South Eastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council Search and Rescue Team, as well as members of the Wareham Department of Natural Resources.
The patient was seen lying in nearby vegetation around 6:25 a.m. that morning by the state police officers in an Air Wing Helicopter. According to Wareham Police Chief John Walcek, the helicopter was a useful resource in the search, because the vegetation made it difficult to see the missing patient from the ground.
The patient was then transported to the hospital for an examination.
