Five-hour power outage frustrates portion of Onset
Jun 6, 2010
A power outage caused by a Saturday morning thunderstorm kept an Onset business and a number of residents in the dark for more than five hours.
"We couldn't brew any coffee. We couldn't toast any bagels," said Caroline Carton, of the Sunrise Cafe on West Central Avenue.
Luckily, Carton said, the shop had brewed some coffee before the outage, which she estimated occurred around 8:30 a.m. No other businesses were affected.
A representative from NSTAR said the company was dealing with several outages in surrounding areas due to the storm. Workers arrived and restored electricity just before 2 p.m.
A chance of showers and thunderstorms is forecasted for tonight and tomorrow morning.
