New Bedford attorney Andrew Lang, who served as president of the Wareham Gatemen in 2022, was named 12th president of the Cape Cod Baseball League on Wednesday, Jan. 11.

Lang got his start in Wareham as assistant general manager of the Gatemen in 2013. He was general manager from 2015 to 2021

In the 2018 season, the Gatemen finished first in the League’s western division and won the ninth Cape League Championship.

According to a Cape Cod Baseball League press release, Lang’s goal is to “maintain the Cape League as the best collegiate summer baseball league in the country.”

Lang earned a bachelor’s degree in history at the University of Southern Maine, where he was on the baseball team. 

He played minor and independent baseball until he earned his law degree at Fordham University, while also serving as an assistant baseball coach.
