Four residents honored with Wareham Citizens awards
Four residents were honored by Selectmen on Tuesday for their extraordinary contributions to the town, two of whom were at the Selectmen's meeting and received a standing ovation from the two dozen people present at the meeting.
James Bruce, Ted du Moulin, Jovina Dean and Rudy Santos were all recognized. Selectman Alan Slavin said the awards are something he hopes the board can do every couple of months.
Bruce and du Moulin were both honored for their valorous military service and Selectman Patrick Tropeano noted du Moulin's service in organizing the Onset Protective League's Candidates Night.
Both Bruce and du Moulin were not in attendance on Tuesday.
Santos and Dean were honored for their commitment to many different town organizations for many years.
Santos is currently a member of the Housing Authority and president of the Summer of Celebration committee. Dean recently stepped down from the Onset Fire District Prudential Committee after 20 years on the committee.
"She has been involved in more things in town than I can shake a stick at," said Tropeano.
