Frances I. (DaSilva) Leighton, 81, of Wareham died peacefully on Friday, April 25, 2014 at Tufts Medical Center in Boston while surrounded by her loving family. She was the widow of the late Benjamin S. Leighton.

Born in Wareham, she was the daughter of the late Alexander J. & Julia (Pina) DaSilva.

Mrs. Leighton was a devoted Jehovah’s Witness for over 50 years and was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Buzzards Bay. She also enjoyed shopping and traveling.

She is survived by her son, Benjamin T. Leighton of Wareham; three daughters, Charlotte Bellando and her husband Mario of Onset, Julianna Leighton of Wareham and Juanita Leighton-Mendes of Falmouth; her brothers, August DaSilva of Louisville, KY, Casamiro DaSilva, Avalino DaSilva  his wife Carol and son Kenneth; Raymond DaSilva and his daughters Stacy and Sonia, all of Wareham; her sister, Rita DiBurgo of Wareham; six grandchildren: Rachel Glisper, Jennifer Glisper, Jordan Glisper, Julia Leighton, Indigo Leighton and Austin Leighton; eight great-grandchildren: Mia, Autumn, Helena, Dorian, Jordynn, Tianna, Sasha and Theodore; nieces Terri Leighton and Brenda Leighton;  nephews John Leighton and Robert DaSilva and his wife Kyle, Jason Newell and wife Diane and Dennis DiBurgo, and other nieces and nephews; her cousin, John Sylvia and his wife Caroline. She was predeceased by her brothers, the late Antone and John DaSilva.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Highway (Rt. 28), Wareham on Wednesday, April 30th from 6 – 8 p.m. A Memorial Talk will be given on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 29 Armory Road, Buzzards Bay.  Interment in the Mass. National Cemetery, Bourne will be private.
