Fred Cardaropoli, Jr., 68
Fred Joseph Cardaropoli, Jr., 68, of Wareham died Oct. 11 at home. He was the son of the late Frederick and Bertha Ellen (Mears) Cardaropoli.
He was born in Holyoke and lived in Wareham for many years.
Mr. Cardaropoli was a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran and served from 1968 to 1971. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart due to wounds he received in action.
As an advocate for veteran’s issues, he was an active and involved volunteer for the REACH Program at the VA Medical Center Brockton campus. It’s a program designed to assist homeless veterans with housing assistance, job training and mental and physical health treatment. Mr. Cardaropoli was also a member of the American Legion.
Survivors include his son, Anthony Cardaropoli of Webster; his companion, Marietta Maraccini of Wareham; two sisters, Annemarie Alexander of Springfield and Carol Shaw of Texas; a brother, Daniel Cardaropoli of New Jersey; a granddaughter, Cassandra Brothers; his stepson, Neil Coburn of Wareham. He was predeceased by his stepson, Erik Coburn.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 25 at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne at 2:15 p.m.
