South Coastal Counties Legal Services, which provides free civil legal aid to low-income people across the south coast, Cape and Islands, will continue to offer its Covid Eviction Legal Help Project through the end of 2021.

The project was funded by Governor Charlie Baker as part of an eviction diversion initiative that also includes rent assistance for tenants and landlords.

The organization offers necessary legal representation, assistance, information and referrals at all stages of the eviction process.

This aid is available for anyone living in Plymouth, Bristol, Barnstable, Dukes and Nantucket counties who makes less than 200 percent of federal poverty guidelines and is facing a covid-related eviction. Other services include legal help for housing, unemployment and other benefits cases, including rental assistance. 

“South Coastal Counties Legal Services offers the region’s most vulnerable residents access to legal resources to help preserve stable and safe housing,” said Susan Nagl, the organization’s executive director. “The pandemic has been difficult for everyone. We are here to help families and their communities recover.
