Funding still available for small businesses affected by pandemic

Mar 28, 2022

Local businesses with five or fewer employees can still apply for funding through a regional microenterprise grant program, the town reminded Wareham business owners recently.

Available to businesses across Wareham, Rockland, Abington, Avon, Holbrook and Hull, the grant program “is designed to benefit small businesses owned by low- and moderate-income owner(s)” affected by the pandemic, according to the program’s brochure.

The maximum grant available to a single microenterprise business is $25,000. Grant funds can be used to cover business expenses like rent, staffing, cost of goods and for assistance relating to covid-19. The grant cannot be used for major equipment purchases, real estate, construction or lobbying, the program says.

Businesses must meet eligibility requirements for the grant, like being established prior to October 2019, maintaining current tax records and being in good standing with the town.

The 8-page application for the grant is available on the town of Wareham’s website.
