Garden Club awards scholarships
The Wareham Garden Club has awarded two $1,000 scholarships to Wareham students who are strong academically, have dedicated time to community service and who share common goals with the Garden Club.
Haley Anne Peltier, a student at Upper Cape Regional Technical High School, founded the school’s Robotics Club. She plans to attend Cape Cod Community College this fall to major in biology.
Charles Richards, a student at Old Rochester Regional High School, is a member of the National Honor Society. He plays with the school jazz band and his own combo group. This fall, he plans to study natural environmental sciences at UMass Amherst.
The Garden Club awards scholarships each year to students who are Wareham residents who study horticulture, conservation, biology or other related fields. The club’s has a conservation pledge, meaning they’re dedicated to protecting and conserving Earth’s natural resources and to promote education to help people become caretakers of those resources.
The club meets on the second Thursday of each month, except January and February, and welcomes new members. For more information, go to www.warehamgardenclub.org. For membership information, call Carol, Membership Chair at 508-291-4151.
